IPL 2020 – 3 Talking Points of Chennai Super Kings and RR Match

Game 4 and it was again the same story of a team batting second failed to chase the target. After winning the first game Chennai super kings was looking for the second win but they have got crumbled in a high scoring match.

So far out of 4 games, one team has chased the total successful in the second innings. With the 4 matches of the tournament, it was first time both the teams have scored 200 runs in their innings respectively.

But Rajasthan royals outperformed Chennai super kings at the crucial points in a match which helped them to come out as victorious in the end. Take a look at 3 reasons where Rajasthan royals dominate CSK.

Rajasthan Royals set the mammoth total

Chennai super kings after winning the toss decided to bowl first and Rajasthan royals got off to worst start when they lost the opener at the score of 11/1. But Steven Smith (69) and Sanju Samson (74) put on 126 run partnership for the second wicket took his team into good position.

It was all because this partnership Rajasthan royals went onto post the score of 216/7 in the 20 overs.

Jofra Archer Exhibition

After absolute carnage from Steven Smith 69 runs off 47 balls and Sanju Samson 74 runs off 32 balls. Rajasthan Royals were looking at the big score but fall of wickets after Samson restricted at 186/7 in the 19th over with Steven Smith back to the pavilion.

Jofra Archer was the new batsman along Tom Curran to face Lungi Ngidi in the final over of first innings. Speculation was maybe few more runs on the board and CSK will come to bat again.

But Jofra Archer stole the limelight of a day with destructive hitting of his bat with 8 ball-27 runs including 4 sixes of Lungi Ngidi last over to take the scoreboard to 216/7 in the 20 overs.

Shocking Batting Collapse of Chennai Super Kings

Chasing the target of 217 in the 20 overs is not going to be easy for any team. But Chennai super kings has been successful so far in the tournament while chasing the target. CSK openers got off to a good start when they have put on 56 for the first wicket in just 6.4 overs.

At this stage, it was anyone’s game but Chennai super kings are incomplete without Mr Consistent Suresh Raina while chasing the big total and they have completely felt that from 56/1 to 114/5 they have lost the momentum too.

With 6 overs to go and 90 plus runs to score it was an impossible task which clearly Dhoni has come bat up the order rather sending Sam Curran and Ruturaj Gaikwad in a pressure game.

Although some effort was made by Faf Du Plesis who scored 72 runs off 37 balls he didn’t get the support other players to go close to the total and in the end, CSK lost the match by 16 runs after some poor bowling performances from their bowlers to help Rajasthan royals posted the mammoth score on the board.
