IPL 2020 – 4 Reasons Why Delhi Capitals Win Against Kings XI Punjab

After the first match, the eyes were set on the second match of the cash-league between the two north teams. The early prediction was Kings XI Punjab may outperform the Delhi Capitals as Kings XI Punjab has the great track record in UAE last season in 2014 winning all of their games.

But Delhi Capitals has been phenomenal in the 2019 season they have started their campaign in pretty much same fashion. Although the match was tied after the 20 overs as no team has come out victorious which in result means the winner would be decided on the basis of super over where Delhi Capitals have easily won the game against Kings XI Punjab. Take a look at the 4 reasons where Delhi Capitals outperformed the Kings XI Punjab.

Marcus Stoinis Exhibition

Batting first Delhi Capitals got off to the worst start and it was complete disaster when they were 13/3. Pant and Iyer put on the one partnership of 73 runs for the 4th wicket to fought back but again it was the same story when they were 100/6 with 3 more overs to go.

At the stage, it was looking like somewhere around 120-125 runs Delhi Capitals would score in the 20 overs. Stoinis was on the crease hitting the ball quite well but again in the death overs, it is not easy to bat with 127/7 in 19 overs Kings XI Punjab was successful in their strategy so far.

Jordan has to bowl the last over and Stoinis was on crease. But this one over has changed the picture of a match. Marcus Stoinis destroyed the line and length of Jordan final over and took 30 runs from the over to take the scoreboard to 157/8 in the 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis has scored quick-fire 21 ball-53 including 3 sixes and 7 fours with a strike rate over 250 plus.

Shocking Batting Collapse of Kings XI Punjab

Chasing the total of 158, kings XI Punjab was confident to chase this easy total before the 20 overs. Second innings chase is always difficult no matter how good a side be. Kings XI Punjab openers have started the chase but they looked in trouble when the half of team was back to the pavilion at the score of 55/5.

But Mayank Aggarwal took the Kings XI Punjab back into the game with game Changing knock of 89 runs off 60 balls including 7 fours and 4 sixes. The match was almost in Kings XI Punjab favour with equation boiled down 13 runs off 6 balls.

The runs could have been 12 runs off 6 balls but one unfortunate run was deducted from the penultimate over when Jordan was running for the second run. Although it was clear Jordan has his bat inside the crease but the umpire was not convinced as he deducted that 1 run which in result turn out to be the nightmare for Kings XI Punjab later on.

Marcus Stoinis Game-Changing Over

It was almost confirmed Kings XI Punjab going to win the match as Mayank Aggarwal and Jordan put on 56 run partnership for the 7th wicket. 13 runs required of last over. Stoinis has to bowl the final over to rescue his side from the defeat. Aggarwal almost took the team near the target with 12 runs off first 3 balls.

1 run off 3 balls Kings XI Punjab dugout was happy and started cheering up their victory. But Stoinis turned the game with 2 wickets and 1 dot of last 3 balls to take the game into the super over. It was completely unexpected from Kings XI Punjab players when they can easily take the single they wanted to finish it off with six ended up getting caught out.

Kaisgo Rabada Exhibition

Delhi Capitals has picked the death overs specialist Rabada to stop Kings XI Punjab to score big runs. Rabada completely restricted them at the lowest ever super over score 2/2.

With 3 to win in 6 balls. Pant and Iyer came in to confirm their victory as they have scored easily 3 runs without losing a wicket but all in all, it was made possible because Rabada tight super over.
