Former fast bowler of South Africa Makhaya Nitini looking to avail the opportunity to be the Coach of South Africa. But as per the current situation and with the Graeme Smith who is director of cricket South Africa, Nitini believes there will less chance for him to coach South Africa. Nitini has been part of the team under the captaincy of most successful test captain Graeme Smith. After the retirement, Nitini was the bowling coach of Zimbabwe from 2016 to 2018 later he was terminated.
Nitini shows the desire to coach South Africa but till 2022 the period of Graeme Smith to be director of cricket So there is no way for him apart to do commentary during the matches.
“I’m still interested in coaching. I enjoyed my time with Zimbabwe; it’s a pity I was fired for wanting to do things right. But Graeme Smith will never call me for South Africa. He doesn’t like stubborn people. So, I don’t think I’ll be part of the Proteas coaching staff,” said Ntini in an interview with SAFM.
Makhaya Nitini featured in 101 tests for South Africa
The Paceman had very successful career for South Africa and was one of the eight player to featured in 101 tests and was the dangerous bowler in his days with many unplayable spells. Pace, bounce and swing, Nitini had everything to bamboozled the greats of the game even on his ordinary days. In 101 tests, Nitini picked up 390 wickets at an average of 28.32 which included 19 five-wickets-haul and 4 ten-wickets-haul. While in 173 white-ball cricket games (ODI), picked up 266 wickets. Eventually he dropped the curtains of his career in 2011.
