IND VS AUS 2020 – Monty Panesar says Without Virat kohli “Will Team India Going To Survive Or The Youngsters Turn Into Torch-Bearers”

Monty Panesar the former England left-arm orthodox spinner has said without Virat Kohli who will going to be next Torch-Bearer for team India? For how long team has to depend on just one player like Virat Kohli. Into the 30s and by the time of next world Cup 2023 Virat Kohli will pass his prime so team India has to start look for the players who can be lead the side without the availability of Virat Kohli.

While in the current series, Virat Kohli will not be part of team India campaign from the second test match at Melbourne due to the paternal leave. However, some of the experts believe Virat Kohli should not left the tour in the mid-way after the first game performance. Monty Panesar believes when there is talent already available why to rely to Virat kohli.

The youngsters needs the opportunity to perform to showcase their skills. In an interaction with the Times of India, Monty Panesar said this is time for the youngsters to perform without Virat kohli to define how good team India can perform in the absence of best player.

“What is the future of Indian cricket? This is the perfect time to know. Virat will retire one day and India should not be fully dependent on such a class player every time. What is Indian cricket without Virat Kohli? (That’s what) we need to find out. This will be proved in the remaining Test matches vs Australia. Once Virat, Ajinkya, and Rohit retire, who will be the next bunch? We need to find out. Shubman Gill will have a big opportunity and responsibility to (put up a) fight in the second Test.”

MONTY PANESAR – IT’S TIME FOR THE YOUNGSTERS TO PERFORM TO GIVE THE GLIMPSE OF SUPERSTARS OF COMING DECADE

Monty Panesar further added, it always comes down to Virat kohli to rescue the team from crisis situation to put them back into the driver seat but how for long we will be follow this trend. There are players like Shubham Gill, KL Rahul, Mohammad Siraj and Navdeep Saini and it’s time for these young blokes to define their strengths without their regular players against such complete side of Australia.

“The series is more about the next generation (of Indian cricketers). I know, there is no Virat Kohli, there is no Rohit Sharma. Let’s give opportunities to youngsters in the second Test. This is a big opportunity for them. The youngsters have done really well in the IPL, so let’s give them the chance,” Monty Panesar asserted.

“KL Rahul, Siraj, Saini, and Shubman are the assets India have in the young category. Let’s give opportunities to these youngsters and know what would be Indian cricket after Virat Kohli. Virat cannot do things alone,” he further added.

Without the availability of Virat Kohli and Mohammad Shami from the Second Test Match it’s time for the Captain like Ajinkya Rahane to perform as team player along with the team apart from the absurd performance in remaining test matches.
