In a must-win game, Zimbabwe (ZIM) romped against Pakistan team (PAK) at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The minnows called Zimbabwe has already shocked the Pakistan team in the 3rd ODI match by defeating them in nail-bitting Super Over.
With 1-0 in the series, Zimbabwe team was looking to win the game to keep themselves alive in the series. But they forget they are playing in Pakistan which is very difficult to beat Pakistan in their own territory.
Pakistan bowling ran through the Zimbabwe line-up and restricted them at the minimal score to clinched the game and seal the series with one more to go.
Zimbabwe team showed hasn’t performed like competitive site as no intent was seen either in the batting or bowling division. Having said, let us take a look at the three things that went wrong for Zim.
Zimbabwe Team Has Played With No Intent
After losing the toss Pakistan captain invite Zimbabwe to bat first and they have lost their opener in the form Brendon Taylor at the score of 5/1. Zimbabwe team batting revolve around Brendon Taylor and if he failed its difficult for team to fight in a match.
With Taylor wicket Zimbabwe never looked in the match and only to managed to score 134 runs in their allotted 20 overs with the loss of 7 wickets.
Zimbabwe Team Has No Depth In The Bowling Attack
At once there was Heath Streak a bowler who could make the batsman dance on his tune with his outswingers. But over the years Zimbabwe team has failed produced another talent like Heath streak in their bowling division.
Defending 135, Pakistan team easily chased down the target in the 16th over and register the 7-wicket victory to seal the series.
Zimbabwe (ZIM) Team Don’t Have Great Captain
The team is not going against A-list teams if your not having a captain with a vision. Appointing Chibhabha as a captain is worst thing for the Zimbabwe team when you have player like Brendon Taylor in the tem. There is a fine example of Kumar Sangarkara who was a great captain along with exceptional wicket keeper to turn the fortunes of team like Sri Lanka in the early 2000s.
Even if Chibhabha was captain the player Wellington Masakadza and Craig Ervine was not playing it was complete surprising. Already Zimbabwe has failed to qualify for ICC World Cup and if they performed like this time is not far away when they lose status in cricket too.
